Today I did a 8 dog off leash excursion in addition to my usual schedule. We went to the land up in Rehoboth and ran around for about an hour...all the dogs had a great time.  Let me also explain to all of the people out there that do not understand off leash training and packleader training. When I tell people that I don't use food or treats or clickers or your "typical rewards" for training it often confuses people and most people assume that I most use pain or punishment....this is nothing farther from the truth. If you really understand canine behavior you will understand that dog just want to be part of a pack and to make a pack leader happy is enough for most dogs. This is what I use for my training methods...I am the pack leader and the dog just needs to make me happy and then they are happy...It is that simple......for all you naysayers mostly my fellow trainers.....I would like you to take 8 dogs off leash in an open field and control them..have them come back to you 20 times at different scenarios of distractions....they wont', they won't come back to you because they don't want your food..they want to run and play...they don't respect you....they just treat you like a food dispenser and they don't respect you for that...

I can hear people now.....well Jeff you have the dogs on ecollars and they come pack to you since they are afraid of getting shocked....again you don't understand dog behavior, pack behavior or basic common sense or my training. When I am off leash with dogs and Ecollar is a combination of a training device and insurance policy....it allows us to reinforce the recall command in EVERY situation and challenge our dogs to get a rock SOLID recall under extreme situations....and yes if they don't come when called...they get a quick correction to remind them to come to me....also Max my GSD goes out and gets the dog by circling them and barking or barking and giving them a slight prey bite on the neck....as soon as I say HERE whatever dog does not immediately stop what they are doing and come running to me...he goes and gets them and drives them to me....



count em'  8 dogs having the time of their lives.....off leash running through, mud, leaves, trees....more mud....grass...all kinds of scents..

Its so beautiful to watch dogs trek through the grass..dogs in there natural state...running wild...off leash work is very emotional for me...having dogs run to me with the biggest smile on them is awesome....



Roca is having a terrible time......he hates going on these excursions....he has no fun......
